Wedding Wood Coordination!

My sister asked me to make a wedding card to coordinate with a wedding invitation she received.  I thought this would be an excellent opportunity to use the Wood Texture Designer Series Paper Pack (144177) I love so much.

Here’s a photo of the invitation…

And here’s the wedding card I made…

A look with the flaps open

The lighting makes the inside flaps look different but they both match the middle wood texture.

Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the back of the card before giving it to my sister. I added a pocket for a notecard where she wrote a little note and added a gift card.

Wedding in a Busy November!

It’s been a while since I last posted anything and this was due to very busy schedule during this month of November.

November started with a Stampin’ Up event in Atlanta called OnStage. There I got a copy of the new upcoming Occasions and Sale-A-Bration catalogs and see some of the new products from these catalogs.

Next, I had to finish preparations for my niece’s wedding in Puerto Rico. I made the wedding invitations and a few other items. In addition to my paper crafting for the wedding I had to prepare a ceremony in Spanish since I was officiating the ceremony.

After the wedding I had to prepare for a special Stamp-A-Stack. I was one of the few lucky demonstrators who were picked to preview a brand new Stampin’ Up! tool. My customers and I were able to use and give our feedback on this tool which will hopefully be available soon. Everyone loved it!

Now I need to prepare for a product class this coming Tuesday! So let’s start with the wedding, it was a fabulous event and here are a few pictures.

At the end of the evening, now it’s official!

It was a special ceremony, my niece has a lovely voice and she serenaded her groom while walking down the aisle. There wasn’t a dry tear by the time she reached him. It was so touching to see the love they had for one another.

They also made a grand entrance on a ATV, the picture is a little blurry.

They Said “I Do”!

On April 9th my niece/god-daughter Alexandra married the love of her life Brandon!

In addition to the wedding invitations, place cards and other wedding details I also had the honor of officiating the wedding!

Now for the wedding crafts before more wedding pictures!

NOT INVITATION…This was the inspiration for the invitation, they wanted something romantic and colorful.

I suggested this die-cut pattern and soft water coloring. Each invitation took approximately 45 minutes from start to finish. Both Alexandra and Brandon spent their time working with the invitations, this was a true labor of love!

Cake and cake topper. Funny story…they cake topper was a black silhouette but when placed on the cake they forgot to remove the protective wrapper! It totally worked, the black silhouette would not have stood out.

There are so many beautiful photos that I’ll have to show them on another upcoming post.

The Bride to Be!

My God-daughter’s wedding is approaching quickly and yesterday afternoon I attended her Bridal Shower. My sister Yolanda did an excellent job decorating her house for her daughter Alexandra. Take a look at these pictures and see how wonderful everything was!

This is the card I made for her.

I made this banner with a retired Chalkboard Banner Kit.

I made these cute Pillow Boxes to hold scarves for everyone!

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly!

Yesterday I started working on my god-daughter’s wedding invitations and had some good results, not so good and really ugly!
I’m using my Silhouette Cameo E-Cutter to make this intricate design…patience is the key here. Each invitation takes about 15 minutes to cut and 7 minutes to remove it from the cutting mat. After that there’s water coloring, printing, adding more card stock, dry embossing,  punching and it’s done! My guess is approximately 35-40 minutes for each invite. Truly a labor of love and she’s worth it!

Just a hint of the intricate design, can't give much away.

Using new cutting mat and wrong blade setting.

They’re Engaged!

On Saturday, March 22nd my niece/god-daughter Alexandra (Alex) got engaged! We are all excited and can’t wait (ok, we already started) wedding plans! She is marrying a caring and loving young man that will be a great addition to our family. Welcome Brandon! I made a layout with My Digital Studio including a few of the photos. The pretense was to have a photo shoot for a framed photo for his new office, my very talented niece Michelle from LoveIsMePhotography was on hand to document the event!

When Brandon was four years old he was in a jewelry store with his mother and picked this ring for her, she purchased it and many years later she gave it to him for the love of his life, the rest is history!

A Wedding and Project Life

I took a few days off to attend a beautiful wedding! My cousin’s daughter Monica married her best friend Andrew on September 6th. Below are a few pictures I captured and pieced together with the help of MDS (My Digital Studio). Click on each image to expand.

Spiral Flower in a Snap!

Learn the easiest way to make a perfect paper flower. Paper flowers are beautiful but cutting them by hand is tedious, especially if you’re making a bunch. Now you can cut a flower in seconds with the Spiral Flower Originals Die and Big Shot. And you can cut multiple sheets at one time or use different materials. After the flowers are cut, just roll and adhere. Make one, make a ton—either way, you’ll be done in no time!

Custom Wedding Card…even the Envelope Liner!

My sister attending a wedding this past Sunday and asked me to make a wedding card. I usually like to match my cards to the invitations when possible, here’s the invitation.

Wed Invite

And this is what I came up with.

2013-12-29 13.58.32

Inspired by the invitation colors I used the following card stock colors: Basic Black for the card base, Whisper White to layer and then an embossed piece of Smoky Slate for an elegant look. I tried matching the monogram and ribbon.

2013-12-29 13.57.38

I used the same embossing folder (Fancy Fan) for the envelope flap.

2013-12-29 13.55.45

Using My Digital Studio I printed the inside of the card on Whisper White cardstock and then used the largest framelit from the “Labels Collections”. I also made a custom envelope liner with the names of the bride & groom. I printed the liner on regular copy paper because I didn’t want a bulky envelope and then used the large envelope liner framelits for a perfect fit!

Starburst & Spritz

The holiday season is the best time to try fresh and trendy techniques so I decided to try the Starburst Technique not with a holiday theme but a wedding theme. I recently went to (crashed!) the wedding of Kathy and Ryan Swisher and I used a photo taken by their photographer Jess Ryan.

Below is a holiday themed Starburst Technique project along with a instructional video.

As you can see from the video it’s an easy technique, try it and send me a picture of your project. I would love to see what you create!
