This Christmas…

This Christmas was full of family fun, cookie decorating and lots of love! First of all we started our celebration a little early because most of my sister’s family is in the restaurant business and had to work on Christmas eve. We usually have a fancy sit down dinner at one of homes but as we did last year and expect to do for the upcoming years we celebrated early. We had a our fancy sit down dinner at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse where my baby sister works. We had a double private room and spent over 4 splendid hours full of fine dinning, family fun and lots of love! Below are just a few photos of my husband, children and my brother in-law Victor celebrating!

We started Christmas morning with one of my favorites, a Christmas Morning Breakfast Casserole. I prepare the casserole the night before and bake it while opening our presents.

I have 8 great-nieces and great-nephews and since I still don’t have any grandchildren of my own I treat them as such. I wanted to let them have some fun decorating Christmas Cookies so I made a Cookie Decorating Station. I saw this idea somewhere on the internet and had to try it. I’m so glad I did because they loved it!

Christmas Day continued with lots of celebration…

We had a great fun family time and look forward to a great 2017! I hope your Christmas was filled with love, joy and family fun.

Thanksgiving + 1 Day

wp-1480180580808.jpgThis year was a little different for a couple of reasons, first, it wasn’t in my house and second we celebrated Thanksgiving on Friday instead of Thursday.

For the first time in many years my sister, brother-in-law and niece had to work on Thanksgiving Day and evening. They are all in the restaurant business and it has now become tradition for the restaurants to open and serve a Thanksgiving meal for those who do not prepare at home or are not at home or just want a break. The concept is good for those who enjoy the meal at the restaurant with their families but it takes away those working from their families. The same goes for the stores opening on Thanksgiving Day, but this is the society we live in and we have to accommodate for these situations.

I am one of four sisters with three of us living in Central Florida and one living in Puerto Rico, the three of us who are here always celebrate these events together so we accommodated, we celebrated on Friday! One day later doesn’t make a difference, it’s all about getting together as a family and being thankful for the many blessing we have! This will be our new Thanksgiving tradition from now on since my sister and brother-in-law will be opening their own restaurant next year and will be open for Thanksgiving Day. And next year we will be back at my house for Thanksgiving Day + 1!

We were a total of 30 grateful family members getting together to celebrate! Here’s the setup at my sister’s house, it was amazing! The one thing missing from the table settings are the name tags, I arrived almost an hour late (don’t ask!) but they were added before everyone sat down (because now they knew where to sit!).

I don’t have a close up of the name tags but you can see them on the table here.

Inky Fingers…Why Not!

holiday16_p36b-20
The textured designs on this paper appear like magic when you add ink. Stamp, sponge, brayer, or mask it and beautiful designs appear. Or use it alone for elegant, touchable texture. Watch to see what you can do.
This process can definitely get ink on your fingers but never fear, just wash with soap and water and it’s gone. Ok, it might take a couple of tries for the darker colors but it will come out.

Christmas in July – Part 2

As I mentioned in my previous post my Technique Class consisted of 2 Holiday Cards for my Christmas in July class. Our second card was inspired by Mary Bush from StampingInTheStand.com.

MaryBush

Using the flowers from the Flourish Thinlits was a great idea. I decided to change the tree from the Peaceful Pines Stamp Set to just cutting out a tree from the coordinating Perfect Pines Framelits and then cutting/embossing it with the same framelit set for this look.

I love the way the cutouts peak out so I had to add Wink of Stella to those peaks! I also added a Gold Glimmer Star and some Metallic Thread. I used the Thoughtful Banners Stamp Set and matching Duet Banner punch for the greeting. I hope you like my version.
