Chalkboards: Not Just for School Anymore!

I’m going back to when I was in school and there were actually chalkboards in the classrooms. Today the classrooms have whiteboards, no more chalk or chalk dust. When I was in grade school I fantasized about being a teacher and writing on a clean chalkboard with perfect penmanship. Now that’s all in the past because we have whiteboards! But it doesn’t mean we have to abandon the chalkboard look. Take a look at the video below for some Chalkboard Techniques.

So get out your Basic Black card stock, Whisper White Craft Ink and make some chalkboard cards!

New Product on it’s Way!

A while ago I was excited to become part of Stampin ‘Up’s Leader to Leader (L2L) team. This team consists of a group of Stampin ‘Up! employees and demonstrators like myself who collaborate in coming up with ideas for stamping tools and helping stampers enjoy the art of stamping. Adding to the excitement, one of my classes was selected to feature and try a prototype Stampin ‘Up! has been developing for the past few months!

On Saturday, November 19th I had 13 stampers at my home to use this product in development. Tanner Smedley, Sourcing & Development Specialist and Mike Vanderlinden, E-Commerce Specialist from the Stampin’ Up! home office joined  my stampers and I at my Stamp-A-Stack class. We were all very excited to use and play with this prototype and give our feedback. It was an overwhelming positive response and we can’t wait until it’s available for purchase.

Unfortunately I cannot share pictures of the prototype or go into more detail about it and because of this I forgot to take pictures of everyone while they were at my home but here are a couple of pictures before everyone left.

That’s Mike on the far left and Tanner on the far right. We were all busy putting together the cards we made.

Here are the cards:wp-1480271890069.jpg wp-1480271894101.jpg

Here’s Mike giving a one-on-one demonstration.

We had a great time with Mike and Tanner and after everyone was gone they treated my husband Darren and I to a late lunch. They wanted to try something different so we took them to a local Hispanic (Puerto Rican) restaurant called Guavate. They both had a taste of Mofongo and loved it! They are currently on the search for a Latin restaurant in Utah that serves Mofongo.

Wonderful Winterland, Oh What Fun!

wp-1480265789124.jpgI love all the Paper Pumpkin kits, but I am especially excited about the Wonderful Winterland Kit!

Stampin ‘Up! changed the box to match the kit, it’s holiday cards, includes two Classic Stampin’ Spots, and it’s unlike anything they’ve done before in Paper Pumpkin. The laser cut pieces are similar to Edgelits and give the cards wonderful depth and character. As you layer the houses and trees with dimensionals, a lovely little landscape takes shape and helps you feel right at home for the holidays.

Paper Pumpkin should be on every Crafter’s Wish List because it’s like a present every month. You don’t have to stick to the traditional card designs, there are many alternative ideas you choose from on Pintrest and many other sources.

Here are some alternative ideas, you can use a card base to make a matchbox-style holder and slip in a Peppermint Pattie. It’s the perfect little treat for a friend or loved one.wp-1480265614573.jpg

You know those days when all you want to do is sit by the window with a cup of hot cocoa and watch the snow falling outside? That about sums up this shaker card. Use your Big Shot and some fun supplies like the Layering Squares Framelits, Foam Adhesive Strips, Mica Flakes Trio Pack, and Window Sheets to recreate this beauty.wp-1480265611196.jpg

If the weather outside is frightful, stay in and stamp this next card. Use the Softly Falling Textrured Impressions Embossing Folder and Layering Circles Framelits Dies along with a touch of silver ribbon from the 3/8″ Glitter Ribbon Combo Packfor a card that’s sure to warm someone’s heart this season.wp-1480265607834.jpg

And since it’s the season of giving, why not consider giving yourself some Wonderful Winterland Refill Kits today so you can keep on spreading holiday cheer. Refills are available now, while supplies last.
