Celebrating Our Anniversary in Savannah

My husband Darren and I try to get away for our anniversary and this year we visited Savannah, GA. I’ve been there a couple of times before but I never get tired of seeing this beautiful city and spring is one of the best times to visit. We stayed at the historical Hamilton Turner Inn right on Lafayette Square and next door to The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.

We had our own private entrance and courtyard at the front of the house!

Our room was the Isaiah Davenport room full of charm.

It was a pleasure to hear the church bells ring from The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.  The Stations of the Cross were all hand carved with such detail.

These beautiful stain glass windows were a work of art from the Innsbruck Glassmakers in the Austrian Tyrol.

We visited almost all of the 22 squares and Forsyth Park with its impressive fountain.

We took a tour of The Mercer House, the setting for the murder in “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.”

We also visited the Andrew Low house where Juliette Low (founder of the Girl Scouts) lived. This house is said to be haunted and happens to be right across from where we were staying. I took a photo of Juliette Low’s room displaying one of the first Girl Scout uniforms.

While strolling around the various squares and streets Darren made a friend who later retreated to her balcony.

We had dinner at the Olde Pink House where we were entertained by marvellous musician Diana Rogers.
